Charity Work

I'm overdue for a post, I know.  My schedule has basically gone haywire, and left me with little time and energy to keep up my crafting.  I do plan on picking things back up again, and will resume normal posting when that happens.

A few weeks ago, one of my students, H.A. came to me about a charity event, "Pray with Music," in England this May.  A Japanese friend of hers living there wanted to sell a Japanese-style product to raise money to help with the Tohoku Earthquake-Tsunami disaster relief.  We decided to make tsumami kanzashi hairpins for the fundraiser.  We ended up only making about 70 pieces together, but considering our busy schedules, I think we did a great job.  I am very proud of  H.A. for jumping right into learning the craft, and doing such beautiful work. I hope, even in the smallest way, that our efforts will somehow help the Tohoku area get back on its feet. 頑張れ日本!

Probably polyester

Feeling like felt for a change

I just melted the edges of the cutouts and tacked them together with E6000 and some buttons/beads.  Will probably attached bobby pins to the backs to finish them off.
